Oh, I Have BEEN Ready For Some Football

Yesterday was such a great Sunday for so many reasons. But the number one reason- FOOTBALL IS BACK. Gah I love this time of year.

I woke up to the most BEAUTIFUL weather. It was so Fall-esque I could barely stand it.

After cutting up an old New England Patriots t-shirt (GO PATS) into a workout tank, I threw it on and got to a strength workout!

There’s something about doing a strength workout pre-watching big, buff football manly men throw around dat pigskin…

The strength sets were done with the only weights I own- my 8 lb. ones.
I’m working on building my strength even more and investing in a heavier set.
Gotta start somewhere, right? (and I’m definitely sore today)

  • 20 minutes jogging on the treadmill
  • Chest Fly w/ Dumbbells (15 reps, 3 sets)
  • Overhead Tricep Extension (15 reps, 3 sets)
  • Single Arm Dumbbell Rows (15 reps, 3 sets)
  • Dumbbell Shoulder Press (15 reps, 3 sets)
  • Seated Dumbbell Biceps Curl (15 reps, 3 sets)
  • Squats (15 reps, 3 sets)
  • Calf Raises (15 reps, 3 sets)
  • Plank- 60 sec, 3 times, (no weights)

This workout was inspired by the blogger, Tina Haupert who authors:::
“Carrots N Cake”

(I’ve been pulling from her blog A LOT lately and talking her up… new lady crush and obsession for sure)

I bought her book and this strength workout was included! She is one of the most relatable authors/bloggers/human beings out there and I absolutely LOVED her book. You would too I promise! And her blog is the shit.

I read it in one sitting this past Friday! Read it. I know you want to.

Moving forward… I followed my strength workout with a treat :)

I practically ran to dunks (Allison definitely runs on dunkin) after working out for this pumpkin flavored ice coffee. Not the healthiest thing in the world- but I knew I wanted it and I had to have it. No regrets. The Washington Monument looks so little in the distance he he.

As I got ready for the day I was wicked excited to finally wear my NEW Patriots shirt that my stepdad, Kevin, got for me when I was home a couple weekends ago! Love it.

Then came a Tina Haupert inspired breakfast.
I know… I’m all about her blog/life lately. Just go with it.

My kitchen is always a mess when I’m cooking.

The recipe is what she calls an “Apple Omelette” and it involves baking in a shallow dish:
3 tbsp. whole wheat flour, 1/4 tsp. baking powder, 2 eggs, 3 tbsp. milk, 1 tbsp. lemon juice, 2 tbsp. sugar- topped with one thinly sliced apple and cinnamon.

Pre and post cooking photo shoot. GUYS I got to use my pie dish! SO exciting! Breaking it in early than I thought I would.

One serving has only a little over 200 calories (one serving is half the dish). I topped mine with some greek yogurt and low cal maple syrup. DELICIOUS. Even my healthy food adverse boyfriend thought so- he’s the real test of taste.

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALLLLLL
I can’t watch all the games here in DC so I was amped when I saw it would be on.

Any good football Sunday has to include game day food- rule of thumb.
Buffalo chicken salad, guac, and pretzel chips for me!

My quick buffalo chicken salad was: chopped kale/spinach/arugula, cucumber, tomato, reduced fat bleu cheese crumbles, and some chicken breast that I sauteed with Franks hot sauce and a little Worcestershire.

My guac was thrown together with an avocado, red onion, tomato, lime juice, cumin, garlic powder, and some salt.

Later that night and after a Patriots WINNN (first of many for the season)
it was PIZZA TIME NOM NOM NOM.

Another recipe brought to me by Carrots ‘N’ Cake who got hers from Martha Stewart.

Guys. Pizza is my favorite food sooo this was like heaven.

You can make your own dough or use a pre-made crust of your choosing. I bought some cornmeal pizza crusts from whole foods the other day with this meal in mind.

Shout out to Vicolo Pizza crusts outta San Francisco- they know what’s up.

There’s a pizza place in D.C. that makes one of my FAVORITE pies in the city and its called District of Pi. They use cornmeal in their crust and I’m obsessed. I had been craving that taste so this find was pretty clutch.

The crust is then topped with part-skim mozzerella cheese, those vegetables (carrots, sweet potato, red onion, and red new potatoes) that I roasted the other night, dollups of part-skim ricotta cheese, rosemary, and a little olive oil.

The finished masterpiece :)

My slices and side salad (lemon juice, kale, spinach, orange bell pepper, cherry tomato, and cucumber). I think I could eat pizza every day of my life and be satisfied…

While Keeping up with the Kardashians- I had a Matt Damon cookie sandwiched in half with some non-fat frozen cool whip in the middle. Yummmmm.

Happy Sunday :)

Hope you all enjoyed some delicious food this weekend as well! xoxo
Again, GO PATRIOTS.
